The Curly Girl Method 28 Day Review

During the month of February I am kicking off my Healthy Hair Growth Challenge by reintroducing the CG Method into the mix and observing whether it impacts my hair in a positive way. If you are not familiar with the Curly Girl Method check out Lorrain Massey's book Curly Girl: a Handbook or just read my post

Revisiting the Curly Girl Method

I will post regular updates and pics on what I am doing to follow the Curly Girl method.

DAY 1: February 1 2013

I wanted to completely follow the CG Method to see what my results are. I knew that shampooing was going to dry my hair out so i mixed coconut oil and some of the V05 clarifying conditioner to prepoo then I shampooed my hair with V05 Kiwi Clarifying shampoo for the first and only time. After my shampoo I decided to revisit SheaMoistures Intensive Treatment Masque (review to follow)
I left it in for about 20 minutes then applied a mixture of Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner and Honey and rinsed with cold water. I finger detangled leaving a little of my Aubrey Organics conditioner in as a leave in. I applied Cush Cosmetics Huile Supreme Cream Moisturizer and sealed the moisture with Mango Pomade raking the product through and smoothing it into my hair  to clump my curls  and scrunch them for definition. After applying the product I used clip to lift the roots and add volume and on the ends to prevent too much shrinkage. I allowed it to air dry and this is what I got

DAY 2: February 2 2013

Second day wash and go. I usually use the pineapple method when I WnG. so I didn't really have to do much when I woke up. I re-hydrated my hair with my homemade hair mist. Added a little Cush Cosmetics Buriti Hair lotion where needed and sealed again with the mango pomade. Still decent definition

DAY 3: February 3 2013

Super busy with Superbowl party preparations all day. Decided to put the wash n go up for my sleek and simple signature Curly Pony, so i wouldn't look like I was trying to hard - casual Glam LOL. I misted a little and just used my hands to sweep my hair up into my pony leaving the front out.

DAY 4: February 4 2013

I so hate to waste big hair and today had the potential to be great day 4 hair but with the my committment to my healthy hair growth challenge I have committed to styling my hair in protective/ low manipulation styles. I spritzed my hair with my homemade mist used my hands to manipulate it into a high pony and bunned her up

DAY 5: February 5 2013-  DAY8: February 8 2013

I Cowashed, Deep Conditioned and left some of my conditioner in and detangled with my fingers. Next I sectioned my hair off. Using my whipped shea butter mix I twisted my hair all over in two strand twists for the rest of the week. I decided to try a pin up inspired by Beautiful Brown Baby Doll

DAY 9: February 9, 2013

Out of town this weekend and we all know packing for a curly girl can be crazy, so I don't have the luxury of all of my productsI untwisted last night and wore my hair in a twist out. This morning I co-washed with Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner, left a little in. Then I sectioned my hair off and applied Komaza shea butter hair lotion and sealed that with my Cush Cosmetics Mango pomade. I let it air dry most of the way then put it in a high pony for a while to stretch it a little. Turned out pretty good :)

Day 10: February 10, 2013

Today was pretty laid back so just sprayed a little Deva Curl Set It Free on my second day WnG, rubbed a little Mango Pomade to seal it.

Day 11: February 11, 2013

Rocking a cute, simple & sophisticated protective style inspired by Ms. Rosievelt. (pic to follow)
